The MAKO JAWS Small Concrete Screed Chair is a stay-in-place screed support designed for concrete contractors who require accurate grade control and durable screed rail support. JAWS Small is engineered to support 2x4 wood screeds and aluminum, magnesium, or steel screed rails up to 1-1/2″ (40 mm) wide, providing a versatile solution for both hand screeds and mechanical screeding systems. The patented JAWS teeth design grips the screed securely during placement while allowing easy release as the pour progresses. This design improves stability while allowing crews to move quickly down the pour line. Inside the chair barrel, MAKO’s fin-lock system grips mounting structures such as rebar, threaded rod, conduit, PVC pipe, or metal stakes from 3/8″ to 5/8″, preventing the chair from bouncing off during concrete placement. Constructed from impact-resistant medical-grade polypropylene, JAWS Small is non-corrosive and non-conductive, making it ideal for bridge decks, infrastructure projects, and environments where metal supports may corrode inside the slab. JAWS Small works with the MAKO Driver to allow contractors to quickly set accurate elevation and maintain consistent slab tolerances. Each bag includes 100 JAWS Small screed chairs, typically spaced every 3–4 feet, covering approximately 3,000 square feet of slab depending on rail length and project conditions. The chair remains in place after the concrete pour as a durable stay-in-place form support.
