Auto Redact PDF

Indigo PDF offers a unique feature called “Auto Redact” that allows you to automatically redact sensitive or confidential information in a PDF document. This feature streamlines the process of redacting specific text, providing options for customization. Here are the steps to use the Auto Redact feature in Indigo PDF:

  1. Select PDF for Auto Redaction:
    • Use the application’s file selection or upload feature to choose the PDF file that you want to auto-redact.
  2. Configure Redaction Options:
    • Look for a feature or option that allows you to set up the redaction parameters.
  3. Enter Text to Redact:
    • In the “Text to Redact” field, enter the specific text or phrases that you want to redact. Each line should contain a single keyword or phrase to be redacted (e.g., “Confidential,” “Top-Secret”). You can provide multiple keywords separated by line breaks.
  4. Choose Redaction Color:
    • Select the color you want to use for redacting the text. Common choices include black, red, or any color that obscures the text effectively.
  5. Use Regex (Regular Expressions):
    • You have the option to use regular expressions (Regex) for more advanced and flexible text matching. Regex allows you to specify patterns to match text. For example, if you want to redact all email addresses, you can use a Regex pattern like \b[A-Za-z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Za-z0-9.-]+\.[A-Za-z]{2,6}.
Please note that using Regex may require some understanding of regular expressions.
  6. Whole Word Search:
    • Check the “Whole Word Search” option if you want to ensure that only complete words are redacted. Enabling this option avoids partial word redaction.
  7. Custom Extra Padding:
    • If you want to add extra padding around the redacted area, you can specify the padding value. This is useful to make sure the redacted text is completely obscured.
  8. Convert PDF to PDF-Image (Optional):
    • Check the “Convert PDF to PDF-Image” option if you want to remove text that may be hidden behind the redaction boxes. This can help ensure complete redaction of the specified text.
  9. Submit for Redaction:
    • After configuring the redaction options, click the “Submit” or “Start Redaction” button to begin the auto-redaction process.
  10. Download the Redacted PDF:
    • Once the redaction process is complete, you will be prompted to download the redacted PDF file. Choose a destination folder on your computer and provide a name for the redacted PDF file if needed.
  11. Confirmation:
    • You will receive confirmation that the specified text has been successfully redacted, and the redacted PDF is saved with your settings.

By following these steps, you can efficiently auto-redact sensitive information from a PDF using Indigo PDF. This feature helps protect confidential data and ensures the privacy and security of your documents.
